Natalie Portman says her style has changed since becoming a mother. The Oscar-wining actress welcomed son, Aleph, into the world last June and admits she has had to adapt the way she looks as she is keen to appear more mature.

"I've been trying to look more like a lady recently. I used to be happy in a T-shirt and sweatpants, and now I feel like I want to make myself a little more grown-up - now that I'm a mom," she said.

The 30-year-old beauty also says she loves vintage fashion because there's always a story behind the outfit. "I feel like you are sort of stepping into history. It's really amazing to get the story of where a dress has been; you know that it has lived through many people's stories," she told WWD.

Raf SimonsRaf Simons insists he won't be bringing a new age of minimalism to Christian Dior.

The Belgian designer - who was named as the fashion house's new artistic director on Monday - says while he will be bringing his own vision to the label he won't sacrifice its feminine history.

"I don't think it's wrong to call me a minimalist. It's wrong to call me a minimalist only. I am also a romantic person. My main inspiration will be femininity...because it's beautiful, endless and permanent. I'm interested in creativity, the evolution of creativity and the relationship between creativity and the times we live in. When I'm married to a house, I will fully embrace its original intention, its original heritage and meaning. I wouldn't go to that place if I only had minimalism in mind. I'm very aware of what the environment is about," he told WWD.

A spokesperson for the designer also confirmed his eponymous menswear line will continue as before, with Simons at the creative helm: "The Raf Simons brand continues with no changes. The Spring/Summer 2013 show will be presented in Paris next June."


Crystal RennCrystal Renn is "excited" by her new look.

The former plus-size model recently dyed her hair platinum blonde and while people are shocked by her "transformation," she loves the "extreme'" change to her appearance.

"People can't believe the transformation. I had black hair and now I have white hair. That's what's so exciting. I wanted to do something different. I wanted to show up as a different canvas at a shoot. It's a very extreme look but very beautiful. Though it's nothing conventional," she said.

Crystal underwent several dying sessions to change her hair and she is delighted by the finished look. "It's a challenging look. But what's wonderful is it's something that photographs beautifully," she told People.

The model lists actress Tilda Swinton as her style icon because she admires the way the We Need To Talk About Kevin star changes her look so frequently: "I'm not trying to conform to one certain look. I look up to someone like Tilda Swinton. She's the fashion icon. She experiments and that keeps life fun," the 25 year-old beauty said.


Elizabeth OlsenElizabeth Olsen "has" to have a stylist.

The Martha Marcy May Marlene actress - who is the sibling of fashion designer twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen - admits she is a big fan of fashion but requires someone to help her because she is aware everything she dons is a "statement."

"You literally have to use a stylist. There's no way you can figure it all out, especially when you are working on a film. Now whatever you wear is like a huge statement to the world. So you have to have someone help you figure it all out," she said.

Elizabeth uses Cher Coulter - who was voted one of the Hollywood Reporter's 2012 most powerful stylists - and she admits she enjoys clothes even more because of her: "I love clothes and my stylist Cher is so cool. I have a lot of fun with her. For a while I had no clue and I didn't even like to wear dresses to begin with. Now it's fun, like playing dress up."


Vera WangVera Wang is launching her own make-up range.

The designer - famed for her stunning wedding dresses - has teamed up with Kohl's stores to release Simply Vera, a line of affordable and stylish cosmetics. The range includes primers, shadows, moisturizers and lip colors and are all less than $39.50 an item.

Vera says the line is about creating a perfect canvas and adding pops of color, adding, "Make-up should let the real you shine through. Skin is your best accessory."

Last year, Vera - who has designed wedding gowns for the likes of Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian and Mariah Carey - announced she would be expanding her line in 2012 with a range for Kohl's including make-up, skin care, bath and body products and beauty accessories: "As part of my incredible partnership with Kohl's, I will now be able to offer women all over America my own personal regimen for skin care and make-up. It is an easy, light, modern and effortless approach to beauty and creativity. Like fashion, make-up is also transformational. I love the artistry of make-up to accentuate, enhance or create a mood for any time of day or occasion."


Joshua SchulmanJoshua Schulman has become president of Bergdorf Goodman. The former head of Jimmy Choo and the Gucci Group admits he is delighted at his new job because he has "always" appreciated the work of the world famous New York department store and its parent company Neiman Marcus.

"I've been a vendor of Bergdorf Goodman and a vendor of the Neiman Marcus Group in my career over the last 20 years. I've always had an enormous appreciation for the culture of Bergdorf Goodman and the Neiman Marcus Group and for their focus on excellence in luxury retail," he told WWD.

Jim Gold, president of speciality retail for the Neiman Marcus Group, added his two decades of experience would bring a new wave of "knowledge" into the sector: "Josh has been around the luxury business for 20 years and although he has been on the wholesale side, he has worked with department stores his whole career and gained an intimate knowledge of what it takes for a large store to work."

The 27-year-old E! presenter was such a fan of the 80s sitcom - which followed the lives of four aging women - that she decided to recreate the style on her own hair. Denying her new look had anything to do with a Chanel campaign featuring a silver-haired model, she said, "I did it because of a magazine clipping I found when I was 13 - and because I'm obsessed with The Golden Girls. Maybe I'll do yellow next. Maybe I'll do green."

She insists that when it comes to her style, she likes to be a leader, not a follower, although she doesn't set out to please anyone but herself. "I'm the most uncool person on Earth, and I love myself. I don't want to be cool! I feel good in my own skin because I've accepted the fact that I'm me. That's what's so great about being alive and being on this planet: Everybody's different."

"We wanted to design a gorgeous bag that reflected Lana Del Rey's style and beauty so we thought the bag should be simple and structured yet relevant for now and recognizable instantly as a classic Mulberry piece. We wanted it to be functional with an uptown twist as Lana is such a wonderful uptown girl herself; its shape implies structure yet it has gorgeous squidgeablity! To me it also had to be very Mulberry, very us so we gave it the classic postman's lock hardware and a great front pocket - for all your bits and pieces! It's a mixture of Mulberry, a touch of Lana's old-school glamour, and total practicality: it's quickly become our best friend!"

Carine RoitfeldCarine Roitfeld insists her new magazine will not compete with Vogue.

The former French Vogue editor - who was at the helm of the respected fashion publication for over 10 years - is set to launch CR Fashion Book and promises she is creating "something different" to what is already on the market.

"The name's not a big surprise, but oh well. [It is a] celebration of fashion and creativity. Vogue is a very beautiful magazine, an institution, and I learned so much working there. You can't put yourself into competition with a magazine like Vogue; you have to create something new, something different."

The magazine will be produced in New York and over half of its 50,000 copies will be distributed in Europe - priced around $10 - with the remainder in the US and Asia. The quarterly publication will also have an online presence focusing on art, culture and fashion and not otherwise present in the print version.

Raf SimonsRaf Simons will be looking to the past for inspiration in his new role as Christian Dior's artistic director.

The Belgian sartorialist was recently named as John Galliano's successor at the French fashion house and while he wants to put his own mark on the collections, he is keen to pay tribute to the label's history.

"My aim is a very modern Dior, but at the end of the day, I also look back. I find that period between 1947 and 1957 extremely attractive, and there was a lot of modernity. There was the romantic appeal looking back to his mother and the belle epoque, but there was also a constant evolution in shape, changing proportions and the ideas connected to the World War were revolutionary," he told The New York Times.

Simons said he was thrilled to be given the Dior job as he has always been an admirer of the company.
